These video clips are from our practice focusing on Arch & Kick technique and control!

Video #1 - GREAT energy, release and back-height over the bar! Arch is OK initially, but we see the falling reflex we discussed here in the first frame where you begin to "fall" toward the pit. Soft kick does not get your legs away from the crossbar nearly fast enough.

Video #2 - Another great big jump with some arch in the back, even though your head is cheating to the side a bit instead of chin straight UP. Just a lazy plant leg makes this jump a miss. I see LOTS of big potential here and when we get things cleaned up you will SOAR!

Video #3 - Subtle arch but held very well here - with shoulders falling below your hips before the break/kick! And active legs kick out very nicely here - Excellent execution (not sure what made this one a miss?). Also, notice the first thing to touch the landing pit is... your HAIR!!! Now THAT is pretty darn good!

Video #4 - Some pretty good early arch here, but the jump is a miss because of the approach. A non-circular turn gets you too close to the bar with NO Lean-away by step 9, so your release is just right through the bar instead of to vertical...

Video #5 - This is another non-circular turn which diminishes Lean, but looking at the Arch - you see your chin just never gets back. If we draw a line between your bar-side hip and shoulder, we'd like to see your face tip back BEHIND that line in your arch. I see your smiling face in FRONT of that line throughout this jump. Good POP on the jump at takeoff, but no arch :-(

Video #6 - GREAT big arms, drive knee and vertical release as your plant-foot toe leave the ground!!! THIS is impressive for a sophomore! Your face gets back behind "the line" here for some good early arch, but the break fades in as you start to fall. TALKING in the air will help control this more definitely: "Arch - and - Kick".

Video #7 - A pretty terrific jump with a slow kick causing the miss. I'm still more worried about the un-Lean and a little pause-step creeping back in there at step 9 in the approach. We need to circle back and work on that stubborn cat some more!

Video #8 - Soft break of the arch early here - has you hitting the landing pit in a sitting position instead of head and shoulders first. Really need to be forcefull with Arch - and - Kick being definite, proactive actions and not let them all blend together into one long, soft motion...

Video #9 - BEST ONE BY FAR! Here you hold the back arch (even though your chin is a little forward) to and past the apex of the jump. Then we see a definite, proactive movement to crunch forward which pulls that often-lazy plant leg up quickly and crisply out of the way of the bar. I can SEE "A-R-C-H- and Kick!" and I know you are THINKING it as you fly through the air on this jump!!! THIS is taking control of the flight by being mentally active! AWESOME jump and great work to get to this point!
