Video #1 - Hi Ny Yung! OK - Pacing holds steady on 7-8-9 but then you lose energy and pacing into 10. Why? Things are looking good with some energy and Lean entering step 9 like we like... But then between 9 and 10 the approach breaks down. Go frame-by-frame and look at the transition from 9 to 10. By 10 your plant foot toe is not facing the farther upright, it is not even parallel to the crossbar, it is turned AWAY from the pit. And your shoulders are facing REALLY away from the landing pit - what we call pre-turn before takeoff. As a result you can't complete the power drive upward at takeoff as desired, but instead jump backward toward the landing pit mostly. Looking at the release angle of the jump (last frame with plant foot toe still on the ground) you see it is not vertical and "above", so your shoulders are falling while your hips are still rising. You do use your arms well for some lift, and you do have some decent Arch here, but it is all heading over to the landing pit too quickly to be effective. We can work on reducing pre-turn and keeping the plant foot toe facing the further upright for starters! Video #2 - OK pacing is a bit better here. But toe-away, full arch while still on the ground and non-vertical release are all still working against his jump, too. Video #3 - Yeah! - a make! Still the pre-turn & premature Arch issues, but here you are "Above" enough to get clearance over the crossbar. You also have a very strong Knee-through which causes a nice, perpendicular crossing of the bar. Video #4 - Very similar to #2 - nothing new to note here... Video #5 - Yeah, because of the toe-turn-away on 10 that plant foot is on the ground forever which sucks all the energy out of your approach so the takeoff is blah. We need to train that toe (probably with more scissor jumps) an also work on that bad habit of pre-turn of your shoulders awayfrom the crossbar... Plenty to work on! |
