These 4-steps are from our "low 9, tap 10" drill. The goal is to focus on low Center of Gravity (CG) in 9,
so your CG is already rising into 10. As a result we should be able to get a quicker "tap" on 10 as we just
redirect that already-upward CG mementum to the vertical release...
Video #1 - Your pacing here is 7-8 (pause) 9-10 if you watch the video at speed and count along. You get that pause in there and a little bit of a leap/bounding step from 8 to 9 sometimes; especially on 4-steps. Looking at your CG (shirt/shorts line) we want to see it lower on 9 than 10, and we do! Go frame-by-frame and use the line between the blue mats and the gray mat cover as a reference line. The frame where you are "in" step 9 (where your face is just in front of the upright and 10 has not hit the ground yet) your arms are back together and you can see your CG line is definitely BELOW the blue/gray line on the mat. A couple frames later as 10 hits the ground you can see your CG is definitely ABOVE the blue/gray line = GOOD! Watching the video at normal speed you can sense that 10 is a crisp, quick TAP as desired. (But not a Stomp!) Video #2 - Similar to the other video, but I would say this 4-step has much better Lean and stronger attack pacing, so this one gets more of the CG rising in 9-10 from the un-leaning effect. Same good result is you're able to get up through the release quicker with a nice crisp 10-tap. In both jumps you executed what we were working on very well - good work! Look at Jesse's videos from this drill also! |
